Kontanten launches new surcharge ATM service in Finland

Cash ATM is a new ATM brand in Finland

More and more small shopping centers and rural area local services in Finland are left without cash services. Local entrepreneurs are facing problems when Automatia Oy, the banks' monopoly ATM operator, is concentrating its ATMs into high volume locations only, and banks are changing their branch services into cashless services. Lack of cash has a strong impact on neighborhood store profitability and forces local services into the centers.

The Kontanten Group has introduced a new ATM brand "Cash ATM" to help cash distribution in rural areas, smaller shopping centers, event arenas and seasonal locations. Cash ATM is a surcharge ATM where an access fee is added to withdrawals. This fee allows more profitable deployment of ATMs and is often more cost effective for consumers to retrieve cash than under current circumstances.

The Kontanten Group will continue to deploy its free to use "Nosto" ATMs alongside the new surcharge "Cash ATM" but with different location strategies across Finland.

The "Cash ATMs" are the first surcharge ATMs in the Nordics and marks an important development in the market and for the Kontanten Group. Kontanten now has full control over its revenues and the opportunity to expand in new locations that would otherwise have been unprofitable.
